Diana Murray
Diana started at Wellington Hospital in 1967 and qualified as a Registered General and Obstetric Nurse in 1970. She qualified as a Registered Midwife in 1974. Diana has had many roles in Nursing and Midwifery, mostly in Wellington, including Staff Nurse in Ward 22, mostly in the Coronary Care Unit, Private Nursing in London, Nursing Sister on a cruise ship, Tutor Sister, Staff Midwife, Staff Nurse at Calvary Hospital (now Wakefield), KYM Midwife providing full maternity care, Maternal Fetal Medicine Coordinator, Lead Maternity Care Midwife in Kapiti and Midwife Manager Primary Maternity Care.
Diana achieved her Master of Arts, Midwifery in 2010, looking at childbirth between 1920 and 1937 for Historical Inquiry. This study inspired a fascination for the history of Nursing and Midwifery in New Zealand and a realisation that we are now part of history and need to tell our stories.
