Married John Haliburton 1905, a widower with three grown-up sons. They lived in Feilding and John, who was 30 years older than Ellen, died in 1915.
Ellen remained in Feilding. During the 1918 influenza epidemic, provision was made for a temporary hospital in the local parish hall and Ellen volunteered to be ‘Matron’.
