Arrived in Port Chalmers 1873 as surgeon in charge of the ship “Lady Jocelyn”
First registered as a medical practitioner in NZ 14 Apr 1874
Initially practised in Dunedin as a surgeon and Medical Officer of Health, then by 1876 was practising in Timaru.
By 1878 he had moved to Wanganui.
Moved to the colleries in Kawakawa in 1879 and was appointed Public Vaccinator.
Came to Wellington around 1882

By 1892 he had moved to Auckland; from 1894-1895 he practised in Cambridge; and from 1895-1916 he practised in Gisborne.
