Educated at St Patrick;s College, Wellington
HS, Wellington Hospital 1937 – 1938
Established general practice in Newtown in 1939
In 1940, he sailed with the NZMC 2NZEF, and saw service in Greece and Crete. Captured and spent time in a German prisoner of war camp. Volunteered while there to go to a Russian prisoner of war camp where an outbreak of typhus had occurred.
Post-war went to England and completed his anaesthetic training in Oxford.
Returned to NZ in 1948, and resumed general practice in Newtown
Visiting Anaesthetist, Wellington Hospital 1939 – 1951
Retired from general practice in 1982
