Clare Ashton

Clare trained as a nurse and midwife in New Zealand. Her nursing experience has been varied, in operating theatres, maternity, psychiatry, general practice and at sea. She has degrees in business, public health, library and information studies. Clare researched the history of Karitane in New South Wales and published Australian Army Nursing Sister Elizabeth McMillan's letters 1915-16. She has volunteered on conservation projects and the promotion of nursing history. Currently Clare is studying Mary Truby King’s early diaries through Otago University’s post-graduate history programme.
