Ron Easthope was a former Wellington Hospital cardiologist (MB CHB (NZ) 1960, MRACP1966, FRACP 1972) and honorary archivist for Wellington Hospital. He was a major contributor to the early and continued success of WMHS, both as Chairperson and presenter. He created and maintained the society’s website for many years. His original website and material have been preserved and made available on this website. It contains a repository of much of his collected historical research.
Ron will be remembered for his quiet grace, intellectual wit, and sense of humour. His ability to seek out and secure a steady stream of speakers for WMHS was always appreciated. Ron was also generous with his time in sharing his medical history knowledge and leading researchers to where they might find answers to their own research questions.
We are indebted to Ron’s work on the history of Wellington Hospital and the multiple contributions he made to that work, which has preserved invaluable resources for future generations of researchers.
