Educated at Trinity College Dublin
Joseph Henry
Emigrated to NZ in 1863. Became involved in the Waikato War.
Then went to Buller, where he practised. For many years his base was at Charleston, where he was surgeon at the local Hospital.
He was popular with the locals, and was invited to stand for parliament. He was successful, representing Buller from 1876-1879
He then returned to Ireland and England for further medical studies.
Returned to NZ, to Wellington, in 1882
Honorary Physician, Wellington Hospital 1882-1884
Member of Board of Governors, Wellington College & the Girls High School; a JP; CMO, Government Life Insurance Department; Port Health Officer.
