Sailed for Hong Kong in March 1941, en route to a position at the Canton Villages Hospital, China. Whilst in Hong Kong, the Japanese invaded and he was interred in a civilian camp on Victoria Island. Whilst there, he was able to gain experience in the Tweed Bay Hospital

General practice, with wife Eunice, in Willis Street, until his retirement in 1996
Visiting Anaesthetist, Wellington Hospital 1948 – 1960
