Entered Duntroon Military College in 1919, but after three years, decided to study medicine.
Residency posts at the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh, and at Worcester
Returned to Wellington in 1931, joining his father, William Young, in practice.
Visiting Anaesthetist, Wellington Hospital 1932 – 1937
Joined the Medical Services, RNZAF in 1938, and remained there full-time until the end of WW2
Visiting Anaesthetist, Wellington Hospital 1945 – 1947
